I Bombed Pearl Harbor
(1960) $20.00aka's: Hawai Middouei Daikaikusen: Taiheiyo No Arashi/Storm Over The Pacific Lt. Koji Kitami (Yosuke Natsuki) is a navigator-bombardier in Japan's Naval Air Force. He participates in the Japanese raid on the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in 1941 and is welcomed with pride in his hometown on his return. As Japan racks up victory after victory in the Pacific War, Kitami is caught up in the emotion of the time and fights courageously for the standard of Japanese honor. But his assuredness of his government's righteousness is shaken after the Japanese navy is defeated in the debacle of Midway. Also with Makoto Satô and Misa Uehara. Comes from a widescreen print. ![]() ![]() aka: Killer On The Wall A newly appointed cemetery chairman (Richard Boone) discovers that by inserting a black pin into a wall-sized map of the cemetery, he can cause the death of that plot's owner. Very creepy and well made. Also stars Theodore Bikel and Peggy Maurer. Richard Boone continued working until the end of the 1970's and died from throat cancer on January 10th, 1981. (1956) $20.00A rediscovered classic! Italian horror godfather Mario Bava almost single-handedly ushered in a whole new genre with this moody mix of murder mystery and kinky horror. The prolific cinematographer made his (uncredited) directorial debut when Riccardo Freda stormed off the set with the picture only half finished, leaving Bava to rewrite the script and complete the picture in two days. It became the first Italian horror film since the silent era and a classic of the genre. In this modern take, the bodies of beautiful young women drained of blood leave the police baffled, while an ambitious journalist traces a chain of clues back to the familial castle of the aging Duchess Du Grand and her beautiful niece (the elegant and sultry Gianna Maria Canale). (1957) $20.00aka's: Teenage Frankenstein/Frankensteins Tod Professor Frankenstein (Whit Bissell), a university lecturer with an alligator pit under his house, begins to steal body parts from dead athletes who were recently killed in an automobile accident outside his home. Unknown to his fiance, (Phyllis Coates) he then creates a muscular male monster (Gary Conway) with a hideously disfigured face who eventually goes on a neighborhood killing spree. Also with Robert Burton. Character actor Whit Bissell (aka: Whitner Nutting Bissell) was actually the son of a prominent surgeon, Dr. J. Dougal Bissell. Whit died on March 5th, 1996 in Woodland Hills, California from the effects of Parkinson's disease. He was interred in the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles. He was 86. Character actor Gary Conway would later go on to star in the popular Irwin Allen Sci-Fi series called Land Of The Giants (1968-70), which now has a cult following. This film comes from a rare theatrical print that includes the severed head in a birdcage scene, which was cut from all British prints under the title of Teenage Frankenstein. This rare print also includes the short color sequence at the ending. ![]() ![]() A troubled teenager (Michael Landon) seeks help through hypnotherapy, but his evil doctor (Whit Bissell) uses him for regression experiments that transform him into a rampaging werewolf. ![]() ![]()
I've Lived Before
(1956) $20.00This film was released during the short lived "Bridey Murphy" reincarnation craze of the mid-1950's. Jock Mahoney plays a contemporary pilot who survives a plane crash. Upon awakening he is under the delusion that he is another airman who died during the first World War. The authorities pass this insistence off as delirium, until Mahoney starts recounting events and intimacies that only the long-dead pilot would know. Ann Harding portrays the aging, former lover of the soul trapped within Mahoney's body. Also stars Leigh Snowden and with John McIntire and Raymond Bailey. Former screen Tarzan Jock Mahoney died in Bremerton, Washington from an apparent stroke on December 14th, 1989. He had been hospitalized after an auto accident just two days prior to his death. He was 70. Leigh Snowden died from Malignant melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, on May 11th, 1982. She was 52. ![]() ![]()
